Pioneer Liquors, Hope Alaska - Milt’s Corner

Pioneer Liquors in Downtown Hope, Alaska

I think it is the only liquor store in the old gold mining town. You can get an education just looking around out side and in and talking with the charming young sales lady. All it takes is to ask a few questions and she will do the talking! Very interesting! You might find out where gold is being mined and you can watch or maybe you can do it yourself and become RICH ! - Milt Inman

Stone Sheep - Milt’s Corner

Stone Sheep come down from the mountain looking for a taste of salt that was spread on the roads to melt the ice from the winter before. This sheep is still wearing his warm winter coat. This sheep was seen on the Alaska Highway in British Columbia, Canada. - Milt Inman

Alaskan ATV - Milt’s Corner

This old army tank was parked in front of a cabin out side of town. It looked to me that it was used to pull equipment to the back country maybe for building a cabin or gold prospecting or hunting and trapping. It should make a good go-anywhere machine. Milt Inman

One of the things that needed doing was to put new boards on shed the wall to help keep the cold drafts from the North Pole out of the outhouse!! As you notice four workers and seven “Bossing” the job. I think one of the “Lookers” works for the road crew because they have been known to lean on a shovel sometimes. What do you think? - Milt Inman

It Won’t Be Long Now - Milt’s Corner

Sugar maple trees and Mother Nature give us some of the most beautiful fall colors. As the days get shorter the many hardwood trees each with their own beautiful unique tints of color, signals us that it is time to think about getting things done before the Snow Flies. - Milt Inman

Live-Trapping A Beaver - Milt’s Corner

Maine Fish and Wildlife used this trap to catch this beaver alive and transport it to a new home. The beaver was making a dam in front of a small bridge, this in turn will raise the water level and wash out the road and make it impassable. Sometimes the beaver come back and start work on his dam again. That means it will be trapped once more and have a longer ride to a new work location for him or her. - Milt Inman
