Teleprompter In Chief Flunks 6th Grade

I don’t recall ever having to make an oral report in school prior to my 7th and 8th grade English classes. I feared for my life when those times came and often played hooky from school hoping the end of the world would come before I had to go back to school and give my report. If my 8th grade English teacher, Mrs. Gunther, has been the teacher of the 6th grade class at Graham Road Elementary School in Virginia, she surely would have given Barack Obama an “F” and perhaps would have been introduced to “Black Marya”, a 2-foot long hard rubber strap that effectively kept some of us clowns and trouble makers in line.

Below is a video, even released by the White House, of President Barack Obama delivering a speech to a 6th grade class using his teleprompter. It appears the speech takes place in a classroom with crayon sketches adorning the wall behind the president as he stands at his podium, complete with Presidential Seal. The glass panels of his teleprompter are positioned in such a way as it appears he is addressing the ceiling while the kids are seated down near his feet.

So what’s really the deal here? Here we have a man, educated in some of the finest educational institutions this country offers and he can’t talk before a group of sixth graders without teleprompters? We mustn’t judge a man’s intelligence by his lack of being able to speak without reading prescribed text but all we have heard is how extremely brilliant this man is, what an intellectual he is. The younger Bush suffered similar problems his father had in mispronouncing words and he was dubbed stupid. I don’t recall Bush however, resorting to teleprompters to talk to school children.

Any rational thinking 6th grader, if there are any who can think beyond their hormones, would balk at the idea that they would have to stand before classmates and speak after having been expected to memorize what they were going to say.

Or is this more of the President having to resort to making his speeches in safe zones, like 6th grade school classes? Is he now afraid of adults? Either way this should be extremely embarrassing, not just for the White House but for Americans in general. My God! This isn’t a State of Union address like we will hear on Wednesday night. It’s a short speech containing only a hand full of ideas that any “politician” should be able to deliver without a teleprompter. This should easily make Bill O’Reilly’s, “The Most Ridiculous Item of the Day”.
