Tips On How Not To Become A Canine Attack Victim Like Taylor Mitchell
October 30, 2009
Young promising musician, 19-year old Taylor Mitchell, was attacked and killed by two coyotes while hiking in Nova Scotia, Canada. Authorities keep repeating that people are not a prey of interest to coyotes and that such attacks are rare. They claim they have no explanation as to why this would happen. I offer Dr. Valerius Geist’s 7 steps that wolves/coyotes take leading up to an attack on a human. This isn’t to scare people. It’s factual information that can arm you with knowledge and perhaps help you to avoid becoming a victim.

this is tragic and strange; I didn’t think coyotes ever attacked people – they are supposed to be scavengers
There were at least 2 separate attacks here in the US last year that I read about. 2 kids in New Jersey and a lady in New Mexico(?). I believe there may have been a second attack on some kids, but I don’t recall the details. Large canids are large canids(dogs) and will attack if they think they can get away with it. Fear of man is a good thing and should be fostered in wildlife!

Not that rare at all IMHO, or at least not rare enough.
Why are people protecting the Coyote? The Coyotes in Elgin , Il show no fear of me unless I charge them then sat a distance and way and many times follow me. They have attacked many dogs in my area and killed some. They are getting more and more aggresive and we need to do something about it soon.
