July 15, 2009
After losing one of his hunting dogs to a wolf attack, Wisconsin bear hunter, Rick Nelson, says the woods where he has hunted for 22 years without incident are unsafe to be in. He will move his dog training area to some place else. He will not bring his two young boys with him again.

Oh come on, woods not safe?? Just because a hunter says, it doesn’t make it so. What are you really teaching your child? Your dog is running (I am assuming baying or barking) within a wolf pack’s territory (on public lands) during a time when wolves are most protective of their pups and you blame the wolf? Were there bait piles around that could attract the wolves? I suspect so, there aren’t too many places you can go where you won’t find a bait pile.
We aren’t talking about a wolf attacking a dog as he is walking with its owner while on a leash.
Sometimes, you are the predator, sometimes the prey, those are the rules of nature.
