   Well then this government PDF shows some accuracy at least, except I disagree with the purple code which claims documented pack, this should mean multiple packs in those locations, because I spend time in those places starting with Soldier which I live in, And then Steel Mtn, Big Buck Mtn, Timberline, and then North to Archie Mountain where we have 160 acres and I was raised, and spend a lot of time there as well, Then Casner Creek, Warm Springs, Scott Mtn, Bear Valley, where I sat last summer at 7700′ and listened to four packs around me howling in the evening and mornings, Then we have Barnard Mtn not shown, Wolf Fang, and Thunder Mtn.. I really do not expect to see as many this packing season because the ungulate game is so depleted in those spots the wolves will have to move on..Also the friends living in the Soldier area, have had wolves in their yards often..No domestic farm animal casualty’s as of yet.. The claim is the Phantom pack of Phantom Hill fame is the only pack in the Wood River Basin, and lower parts, this is utter nonsense and believed only by numbskulls..

   The map has entries in error as to the location of at least some areas of which I have knowledge. Dworshak is east and slightly north of Lewiston on the NF of the Clearwater River. Perhaps Elk River was confused with Elk City which is on the headwaters of the SF of the Clearwater close to the breaks of the main Salmon. The Palouse is primarily north of Lewiston and very different from Hells Canyon country – rolling farm country vs wild and scenic river canyon – the deepest in NA.
   There doesn’t appear to be much connectivity yet between the central Idaho population and Yellowstone.

   The map is missing about 5 packs from Coeur’d’ Alene east along I-90 and south of CDA on I-95. They’re missing alot of wolves but it doesn’t surprise me. A guy shot a grizzlie about 20 miles west of CDA on sunday night that was getting into his elk pen. It was after dark and he thought he was shooting at a black bear, from what I’ve heard the bear had already killed one of his bulls and was coming back ti finish the meal when the elk farmer caught him. We’ve been telling fish & game for years that we are seeing grizzly sign when hunting or hiking and most of the just blow us off like we’re nuts. I think thir about the same with the wolves being spotted. Hell we’ve had wolves seen at the edges of all the small towns from CDA east to Montana. Theirs been wolf sign seen just about everywhere I can think of up here. Hopefully we’ll be able buy a tag this fall but I doubt it. If they get them relisted again I think we’ll see some thinning no matter what. In fact I’m sure of it.

   There will be no wolf hunts this fall Mike..It is all just a game..

   Tim Kemery was at a meeting last year with FWS, I don’t recall the meetings total members but IFG was there to, and Tim says Ed Bangs told them if the wolves are not collared they don’t exist..

   I believe Tim.. This map is accurate to a point, but incomplete, just look to the Southern Mountains area and the Upper Snake section, There has always been elk there, deer, I have hunted that country, seen Grizzly in there, I know there are wolves in that country because a good friend spends all his time there and sees them…

   Maps and government biologist documents do not tell the real tale, at least not the ones we are allowed to see…Idaho has been saturated with wolves and anyone out wandering about and has integrity knows this.. I have even heard pro wolf people locally start to complain a bit about to many wolves…some have integrity, and others like the Maughan crowd will never ever budge from their perspective of their believed reality..

   In the end it will bite them on the ass…their credibility is in the toilet right along with their favorite Big Brother’s rhetoric…If they were correct in their assumptions then I would support them..Their absolutely not..

   I find it hilarious their fighting over the hunts of wolves.. This state is so vertical and rugged people on foot or horse back will have very little success..and a lot of this state is dense with trees and brush..I think the powers that be know this and once the hunting seasons did go off then people will be angry because they can’t get the wolves and the problem becomes worse not better..

   Graves book on hunting wolves in Russia is very eye opening.. Just let the wolves kill every thing off, they will leave, and someone else can watch them wipe out wild life in neighboring states…This wold plan idea may have worked fifty years ago when we had real conservatives in IDG and FWS..now we just have a bunch of Liberal pretenders, and they have fucked it up real nice..

   It looks like the domestic sheep vs bighorn saga is coming up for scrutiny in Idaho. I hope the natives trump the domestics on grazing permits on USFS & BLM allotments. There is also a lot of discussion about bison in Montana! How about some public range out of Yellowstone National P

   Saw 3 cows last night and one of them had twins, the other two had single calves. Really make me sick to know that if even one of those calves makes it till winter it will be damn lucky. The pack tht runs the ridge I saw them on are in a different drainage and have been for about a month or so but they’ll be back for the new crop of calves and fawns. Sometime thee wolves remind of locust or maybe even sheep and goats, nothing but a few roots left after their gone. Greg I also know that keeping wolves numbers in check just through hunting could never happen, especially up here in north Idaho. We have brush and timber so thick when your hunting in it your lucky if you can find your ass. But it would be nice to know that if you saw one you could whack it and at least know you might of saved an elk for another day anyway.

   On the map once again below the Hyndman colored area just north of Carey, and slightly east we have Fish Creek..And that trail or drainage makes its way into Copper Basin..Late last night or early this morning wolves jumped three Sheep dogs guarding the flock there at fish creek, not so far into that drainage yet, two dogs were sewn up and the other buried..Sources are Sawtooth Animal Center-Bellevue Clinic, and Lava Lake Ranch…Hunt Unit 50, used to be a super elk hunt, draw only..Copper Basin Zone..No more…

   Call for help!
   The Goverment in Sweden try to fool the hunters in sweden.
   They told us that all the wolf with gps in sweden are sending the lokation to USA, and then back to Sweden to the lokal peopel who works with the wolfs and track them and look for killd moose.
   Maby some one of you have information abaut that.

   13/6-09 one pack of wolf killd 43 sheep they jump in a river and swim so they miss the elektrik wire. The goverment in Swed say that maby we can hunt them in December (winter in Swe). Do you hunt them? and how are you do it?

   We use four wheel drive Coup De Ville with a spiked bumper, bolted pontoons, on each side for river crossings, fifty six cases of Beer, a bag of hot dawgs, and we run the wolves over with it during fits of laughter…

    Every time I go into the woods I see wolf tracks and hear packs howling. This past week end, I had three packs within the vicinity of my camp. They were distinctly different groups of animals all in the same drainage. Howled them up to 200 yards of where I was at. I’m looking forward to filling my tag in October!

    Greg, I don’t think Per Agne ever found a Coupe de Ville. Sweden frowns on foreign automobiles in their country – of wolves.

    I can not believe all the imbeciles I run into whining about how hard it is to find a damn wolf, look for what the wolf eats and you’ll have better luck..

    Im looking to fill my Wolf tag before the new year. Has anyone seen or heard of any wolves around the Hayden Lake area or surrounding? I am willing to travel north but not much further than Pend Oreille. Since we have a lot of snow and I have no 4 wheeler, I will be on foot, so please keep that in mind.

    If you have private property and would like to eliminate a wolf, let me know.

    Jeremy, look for wintering elk or deer, that is your best bet, once you locate those, keep your eyes open, the wolves are near them.. if open range you might glass around the ungulates out about a mile from them, I’ve noticed packs will stay off the ungulates 1/4 mile to a mile out in the open as well, keeping and eye on their prey.. It is easier to find the wolves feed than it is to find the wolves..
