Burn Me Once Shame On You; Burn Me Twice….I Misspoke….Again
June 3, 2009
Not that the majority of people in this country care, as supposedly a new poll says that the majority of Americans support the nominee of Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme Court, but evidently with a little digging it has been discovered that she “didn’t choose her words well”…..twice. Shucks! Darn it!
In 2001 she said a woman like herself, with experience (I’m not quoting here, okay?) as an Hispanic woman would be a better judge than any old schmuck white man. Let’s see. First she was taken out of context (see my rant here), then she must have misspoke and finally all was well because she didn’t do a good job choosing her words.
It now appears that in 1994 she didn’t choose her words very well either, making almost the exact same statement.
I would hope that a wise woman with the richness of her experience would, more often than not, reach a better conclusion.”
Not that it also matters to those who claim everything is “out of context” but that comment was in response to a statement made by Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.
a wise old man and a wise old woman reach the same conclusion in dueling cases
No matter I guess! Maybe both of my readers would like to know this information. The chickens have run away in shame saying racist was too strong a word to use on Sotomayor. I suppose then bigot won’t work here either? Feminist? Your Highness? All hail Sotomayor!
Regardless of whether she is qualified as the best person, educated in the United States Constitution, let’s not waste our time talking about such minor details. As long as we can continue to focus on whether or not she’s a racist, a bigot, a feminist or a Nazi, we’ll vote her in because those in Congress are too gutless to stand up for what is best for America. They will vote for her out of shame rather than being qualified to execute judgment of our Constitution.
Why do I feel alone?
