Ignorance, Hypocrisy And Contradictions

March 12, 2009

A reader sent me a link to a brand new web site, of which I am NOT going to give you the link to and here’s why. There is no traffic going there and I hope it remains as such. I will not link there which will help drive traffic. This person is on their own and it is simple to understand why.

The web site was created evidently as a coyote advocate website. This person is actually ignorant enough to admit that they only have one thing on their mind – saving the coyote, even if that means destroying everything else in the world to do so. (everything includes all humans)

Let me give you a few examples of what is on that site.

So you’ve just moved into the foothills and you are going through about two poodles a week. Thank you for helping nurture America’s favorite predator. You have nobody to blame but yourself.

Makes you kind of wish coyotes liked to eat people.

If you are going to raise livestock in coyote country, then you will have to live with some rare losses. Get over it.

Your cat is a non-native predator species and if was outside, it was no doubt doing its best to kill off our native birds, rodents, and reptiles. It is my wish that every cat that is allowed to run free is eventually eaten by a coyote. Your own irresponsibility killed the cat, not the coyote. The blood is on your hands. Keep your cats in the house and this won’t be an issue.

Coyotes are killing off the rabbits. Of course they are, that is what they eat. Let me guess – if they weren’t killing off the rabbits, you’d be whining about rabbits eating your crops. Cry me a river. Rabbits are a natural food source for coyotes.

Coyotes kill fawns. So? That is what they are supposed to do. Now of course this leaves a few less for deer hunters to shoot but tough, the coyote is just being a coyote. Plus, deer hunters claim that the deer population needs to be controlled and on this we agree. If that is the case, why worry about the few that the coyotes take? The answer is simple, they don’t care about deer populations, they only care about killing.

But I’ll leave you with this little gem, which from whence it cometh, we certainly better understand why animals eat their young.

They spend all day long doing what they do best and that is simply being a coyote. They are attractive animals with a purposeful gait; they always know exactly where they are and what they are doing. All they want to do is to be the best coyote they can be and that is a far cry more than what most humans can say.

Hopefully this person will be confused for a poodle and fall into the jaws of hungry coyotes. If so, he had only himself to blame.

    I’m confused.
Coyotes don’t do anything other than “coyote”. It IS what they do. And if you have pets in the woods and you let them run, they just might get eaten. So help me know what I’m missing. Especially because i didn’t see the site or the original letter. It just sounded like a sarcastic response to the “let’s move to the wilderness and then fix it so it’s just like where we came from” crowd. No?

No! It’s a let’s blame man for everything. It’s a let’s save the coyote and let everything else die in so doing. It’s I suppose a self-expose where this person obviously believes the animals are smarter than he/she is and that most humans are useless.

The ignorance comes from not knowing anything about that which he/she speaks except to blame humans because there are human/wild animal conflicts. It’s ignorance because this person doesn’t or won’t recognize that if it wasn’t FOR the hunters he/she so much despises, he/she wouldn’t have any coyotes to “fawn” over. (excuse the expression).

The hypocrisy comes in a vein attempt to save the coyote as if it is somehow more worth saving than any other of the creatures on this planet, including cats. It’s the attitude of let’s kill all the cats to feed the coyotes.

And the contradictions come from stating the importance of the coyote to this person’s view of an ecosystem and yet finding little or no value in anything else.

The contradiction comes because the person fails to see that man is part of the chain of predators and that in his/her world killing all cats is justified because he/she don’t like cats but killing deer and other game animals as a means of a proven scientific approach to management isn’t justified because it’s all man’s fault.

I would suppose that my post was not fair in that I was able to come away from the site with a better understanding and wasn’t able to convey it to the reader. In my own haste to rant and rave a bit, I can confess the post was more a form of therapy for myself than informational to the reader.

    My bad!

I stopped by the place and it kinda seems all over the place. But I doubt they make many friends with the “we love animals” crowd with this:
    More Government Stupidity!

The state of South Dakota has announced that it will issue more deer tags for the hunting season this year. Why? Too many deer, plain and simple. But the BEST way to control the deer population is naturally and that requires predators. But the state fish & game morons have other plans.

Not only are they going to continue the attack on coyotes, America’s finest fawn hunter, they are are now planning to permit cougar hunting. So on one hand we have too many deer but on the other they want to kill off the very animals best suited to control them!

I wonder if this is the same person who thought the firefighters should have rescued the coyote and said that the coyote posed no harm to the firefighters because it would react as a pet if it were being rescued. “clinging to it’s rescuer”. Someone should tell that to the guy who’s “loving” pet bit the end of his finger off ;)

    After further searching, I find that the coyote guy is small fry compared to this pathological case;

LMAO..And you know what totally disproves this idiots rantings..COYOTES living almost everywhere in the lower 48–In abundance..Can you imagine if we did not manage coyotes ? Of course common sense people can.. So man and his guns in over 400 years and man and his bow and spears in several more centuries prior is outstanding evidence we can live with the coyotes..Wolves to if these morons would allow proper management practices of the wolves..I don’t how long the survival rates of Enviro whack jobs are though, but historically it is not good..These morons keep ending up at a ditch with their messiah’s pointing guns at them…unfortunately peaceful common sense types always get lined up at the ditch next to those cry-babys…Can you imagine being at that point of failure, and you still have to listen to some sniveling brat…I will just look at the shit and laugh…

Although, they have a good point on the cats. Cats do what cats do, kill other critters. Rabbits, turkey, small rodents.

Was a woman who lived in north central PA. Her property backed up against the State Forest , she loved her cats so she ended up with about 30+ cats. Some went feral actually most of them were like farm cats real skittish around humans.

Turns out her cats were reeking havoc with the Game Commissions Turkey management program in that area. Ruffled Grouse were also taking a hit.

She was asked to cut down on the number of cats but refused. Gossip was she was having an affair with one of the local Game Wardens so the cats were left alone. Her cats were safe until the woman dumped the man in uniform.

He retaliated by joining into a joint effort with the state conservation effort to re-introduce Fishers.

As mentioned the Ex girlfriends property was right up against the Sproul State Forrest. More gossip says that at least 4 pairs of Fishers were turned out in this area. (Her Back Yard) End result was a marked decrease in the cat population.

I have also spent time in Australia where it is said that every well dressed bush man should own a cat fur cap.

Cats As an introduced species to the continent (along with the Rabbit, Cane Toad, Camel, Red Fox and other introduced man made disasters) Feral cats are reported to be responsible for the extinction of many smaller species of the marsupial family. Species of critters only found in Australia.

If you move your livestock into coyote country then you have to live with the losses. Where is this Idiot from another planet. Coyotes are in all of the lower 48. He doesn’t have to worry about the coyotes. they will be her long after man is gone but I for one will do my part to get rid of as many as I can while I’m here.

Got something to say?
