Obama: “Restore The Scientific Process To….The Endangered Species Act”

March 4, 2009

If only that were true. President Obama yesterday announced that he will rescind actions taken during the Bush administration that would once again restore the process by which actions are taken on endangered species. He also intends to repeal the special rule that exempted energy efforts in the Arctic and the polar bear from claims of harm due to man-made global warming.

Obama says he is going to restore science to the process.

“Today, I’ve signed a memorandum that will help restore the scientific process to its rightful place at the heart of the Endangered Species Act, a process undermined by past administrations,”

If that were true, many of our troubles would be over. If we truly brought peer reviewed science back into the equation, we could put a stop to the senseless lawsuits brought against the federal government concerning Endangered Species Act issues.

There is a distinct possibility that we will see a reduction in lawsuits because more and more of the environmental community behind the lawsuits now work under the Obama administration. A better declaration of President Obama’s should more accurately state that HIS science will be restored to the process, not necessarily the best available science.

If we could truly get real science back in the process, it would be a great day. We should all hold the President at his word and challenge every move that defies the scientific community.

The President also says we should be looking for ways to improve the Endangered Species Act not weaken it. I and millions of other Americans couldn’t agree more with that statement and once again that strengthening of the Act can be accomplished by actually restoring the best available science and getting rid of the politics, abuse and environmental manipulation of the Act to achieve personal agendas.

We will be watching closely President Obama and we intend to hold you to your word, albeit I have very little faith that anything will change except that more politics will play a role while I and countless other Americans are conned into thinking government is saving our animals species.

Just peachie! I can’t wait for science to take over. Up until now, we were on the
fringes of science in the lame ESA with horrific results. What will it look like with
    the “scientific process” in place?

Do you have any idea why the state (AK) would allow the feeding of eagles during the winter?

Why is it, that the majority of polar bear scientists in the Northern hemisphere have said that the polar bear populations that they study, are either steady or rising in numbers and still our ‘pseudo republican’ Dirk Kempthorne (our ex-governor) saw
fit to put them on the ESL? Why is it, that when the ‘reintroduction of wolves into the Rocky Mountains experiment’ was on the table, (one of the options was “don’t reintroduce them”) there were no ‘stress tests’ or looking at other “wolf-infested” landscapes (Alaska, Russia, Canada, India etc…) to determine whether or not it would be beneficial to reintroduce? On a side note, I have done a little research on wolves in Idaho ‘pre-reintroduction in 93′ and have talked to several people that have seen wolves here in Idaho before 93. I myself saw one in 1981 around Idaho City. They’ve always been here, so why did we need to reintroduce something, that’s always been here?

Why is the “balance of nature” theory being pushed and taught by extremist groups like (defenders of wildlife, peta, Idaho fish and game etc…), when the scientific community has dispelled that myth (over and over and over again)?

Why is it, that an organization called westernwolves.org who has ran radio ads here in Idaho are putting forth %100 bold-faced lies about wolves, hunting and the animals we both hunt? Lie #1 They say our hunter harvest is as high as it’s ever been (laughable, right Greg). Lie#2 The majority of our ungulate populations are above range capacity across the state. Lie #3 Automobiles kill more ungulates in Idaho than wolves do. The Idaho Fish and Game has come out and said in their own radio ad (by force of the Idaho legislature) that the very underestimated number of 834 wolves in Idaho kill a conservative number of 9,500 elk a year. This doesn’t take into consideration the deer, moose, bighorn sheep, coyotes, bears, cattle, domestic sheep, cats, cougars, dogs and wolves killed in Idaho. And in the case of Kenton Carnegie in Canada and the hundreds of people killed in India every year, humans. This is a baby step for our fish and game in admitting the enormous error in reintroducing wolves.

The sinful nature of man requires Idols. They have no belief in a Living God, because they cannot see him. The evidence of his existence surrounds us and protects us and has since creation. Sadly many will not accept this plain and simple fact. Why is it? the answer is Idolatry and we have been warned of it’s consequences since the beginning. No excuses we all know it.

And so the beat goes on. Yes, there are things we can do to protect the environment, but having the government mandate policies based on liberal thinking and not pure science is not the answer. If the snowmen are safe for a while, let’s make sure we get the science right before the Democrats outlaw our cars, tax our gas even more (wait… that’s already coming), and make it a crime to watch TV late at night.

The Idaho Fish and Game is setting up a meeting in Hailey March 9th to discuss hunt tag changes over here. Also they claim hunters kill 70 spike bulls a season in 48 and 49. Out right lies. They are doing away with the spike hunt, which is only a seven day hunt..and changing it to cows only with muzzle loader.. It is so bad in those two units, which I used to glass 390 bulls in, including unit 44, NOT ANY MORE, they should just close the units period.

Everything Idaho Fish and Game is doing is causing more damage to herds. To the South of me is the cherished unit 52 and 45, known for huge bulls and bucks..Boone and Crocket class.. They allowed 52 to get shot out, then reduced it to muzzle loader, it was shot out again..worse, then allowed doe hunts down there and wiped out the doe population in two seasons..I could never draw this tag when it was a great hunt..

I used to go down there and look at bucks, I have watched 40″ Mule bucks in 52 in winter, and before the fall hunts.. I used to go gather sheds..Unit 52 is ruined, Unit 45 is close to ruined, and if you can afford $1500 a day to hunt a private ranch you might find a 200″ buck, maybe…This agency is deliberately destroying hunting, I am not kidding around…Environmentalists have gotten the jobs in this agency and they rule it..

Tom, I have field agent pals who have told me this in private, they dare not speak up about it, they have kids in school, mortgages, car payments, you guys know the drill.. Units 44-48-49-52-50 should be closed, what are they going to do..OPEN MUZZLE LOADER HUNTS FOR COW ELK and wipe out the rest of those elk…

Paul is right, the harvest reports are lies, 100%… Guys, I am a hunter, I can hunt, I have killed 24 elk, 20 of them were bulls, I have 200″ bucks on my wall, I hunted my ass off in 48 five years ago, and failed to get a spike bull.. BUT IDAHO FISH AND GAME SAYS WE KNOW HOW TO HUNT THESE UNITS TO WELL AND SO THEIR STOPPING THE SPIKE HUNT…70 spikes per year they claim…BULLSHIT. I live here, I don’t know any hunters who killed spikes, and don’t tell me those flatlanders came up here and killed 70 spikes…BULLSHIT.

They are intentionally destroying hunting opportunity’s…

I’m going to the meeting Monday night, I will try not to start any fights…It is hard for me, because I am very knowledgable and the bullshit lies just make me flip, These Nimrods are covering up for the wolf and FWS..taking hunts down each year…AND NOW THEY SHOULD, I agree, close hunts, we are wiping herds out….BUT ONLY BECAUSE WE GAVE WOLVES OUR MOUNTAINS AND HERDS…You know what folks, I finally got my mountain goat, Oh I never drew my once in a lifetime tag..but I got my goat , I didn’t eat the goat, or keep the hide, nope, But I got my goat skull.. The White Cloud Range Goat herds were over two hundred goats in 1996…

Now those goats who winter down low are under 100, and I picked up my goat skull in the sage the other day, where the snow had melted back.. That goat hunt was only two tags per year.. over 100 mountain goats in 12 years dead…Who dunnit ? IFG says we don’t know… BULLSHIT..

    F*^#KING WOLVES did it…

I just can not believe we all are still talking about it.. Im damn sick of the talk..
