Merle Haggard Suing Green Train Environmental Group

January 9, 2009

Imagine an environmental group being sued for being dishonest! Well, the Okie from Muskogee, Merle Haggard is suing a Nashville-based environmental group, Green Train, for totally misrepresenting his contributions to the organization.

Haggard said that:

without his consent, permission or knowledge, the group used his name and image on all materials for the Green Train and forged his signature on “personal letters” and other solicitation materials and on merchandise sold on e-Bay and in nightclubs.

The forged letters went to some of Haggard’s friends in the entertainment industry, including Dolly Parton, Jewel, Vince Gill and Amy Grant, the lawsuit states.

Haggard also contends that the group did not have a state permit to raise contributions and did not report the contributions, and that “substantial amounts” of the tens of thousands of dollars it raised went to Wolf’s personal use.

While it is unfortunate that Mr. Haggard has been taken advantage of and I further hope he puts the screws to them, this should serve as a reminder that most environmental “watchdog” groups are as crooked as a snake and dishonest to boot. Seldom is the money they raise used for the purposes they claim to be representing.

    Tom Remington and Jim Richards, are both of you Americans?
    I was raised to believe you’re innocent until proven guilty. Just like I believe you would not leave message attacking another American if you where privy to the truth. Neither of you likely knows the whole story as the media often jumps to conclusions. And generally prints a bias one sided view of events. Bob Wolf is a respectable person who with Merle’s partnership formed a great organization with a world changing idea to heighten the awareness of preservation for our future. Unfortunately, it sounds like misunderstandings have occurred and Merle has fallen victim to an attorney with an agenda that will likely destroy some good people and their families when the real truth is hopefully printed and made known the world.
    If Merle or his representatives actually read this I think it’s not too late. You can come to your senses and stop this foolishness. Contact Bob your long time friend and work it out. Don’t let the attorneys destroy either of you, your families, your reputations or the project. The message you both sought to send out is far too important to the world and the people who live in it.

    Signed, Concerned Fan

    Because we don’t espouse to the Envirnazi’s and their criminal ways we are not Americans? Don’t be so foolish!

    Merle Haggard is an icon and if he doesn’t keep close tabs on how people and organizations use his name to further their goals, he can be taken advantage of, economically ruined and his reputation shattered.

    This is a typical track record for the environmentalists and animal rights groups to lie, cheat and steal their way into control of the masses. Looks like they’ve done a good job with you.

    Tom… My comment asks if you’re American because you passed judgement before all the facts are out.

    Yes, todays world makes us all skepital of any green organization and their ethics. Rest assured I’m far from being a tree hugger, but do believe in taking care of what the good Lord has given us all.

    Yes an Icon in the world has made some nasty accusations recently. I’m confident he’s not faultess in all of this but of course we are not privy to whole store as of yet. I highly doubt he is telling the truth about his envolvement with this endeavor.
    Rember their is always two sides to a story. The truth will hopefully be out soon about this organization and it’s formation. This will likely change some minds about it’s founders and their intentions.

  5. Tom Remington on February 17th, 2009 1:32 pm

    So, you are not American by your own judgment. You have judged that Haggard isn’t telling the truth. By your own sentence you are not American.

    I have more of the story than you ever thought of having. There is nothing more I need to know about ALL environmental groups. I don’t need environmental groups to tell me how to care for what’s around me. They are all anti-American, deceitful and full of treachery. That is not an uninformed opinion. That is historical fact.

    Your focus is on protecting the antics of the environmentalists who took advantage of a situation. Mine is to point out the obvious that they are all alike and would skin the hide off their own mothers if they thought they could raise a dollar for their cause.

    Wow! Tom, I’m not going to continue arguing with you except to say I’m more American than you will ever be from the sounds of your comments.

    You can not be American and support a European think tank calling itself the Club of Rome who founded the Environmental movement as a subversive tactic to attack the Declaration of Independence, private propery rights, and Natural unalienable Rights not given us by man but by God..Even if an off-shoot Environmentalist group is found to have integrity it still supports the SUBVERSION of LIBERTY then by mistake and Indoctrination…Agenda 21, Sustainable Development, Smart growth are brilliant lies, and U.S. Subjects no longer Americans via contracts through being duped support this nonsense. Having lived in the National Forest In idaho, in the 60s 70s 80s 90s to 09, I can tell you Forestry of decades ago blows the doors off this crap being done today hands down.. http://www.green-agenda.com

    Well put, Greg. It is time Americans identified the powers that control this great country. I personally enjoy the research of Jordan Maxwell, Michael Tsarion, and Alex Jones very much. In addition, if anyone is interested in learning more about The Green Train Tour there is a new site i just found (http://www.greentrain.com) which has some good info.

    Wow, so much hate and anger. Hey Tom you know so much why don’t you give us the facts of this case. Since when is it anti-American to care about the outdoors?

    Did you know that 80% of the monies for this project came out of MY POCKET? Oh, you didn’t? NEITHER DID THEY!

    The truth will come out in the next twenty days. The judge already made them rewrite the entire lawsuit over due to crap.
    I don’t blame my friend of 20 years I blame two scorn volunteers who filled attorneys full of TRASH!

    Your comments don’t bother us. Please also read the website we are not environmental nazi’s at all. Im a blue collar boy who feels we can’t conserve anything without the help of eac h other. I also am turned off by eviro-nazis
    as well as rednecks who spew out the stuff your throwing out there.!

    We will show the US, we can save A BILLION GALLONS of WATER in one day,
    not important?….tell the Americans who live in Atlanta that last summer. 30 days away from disaster! NO WATER! None!!!!!!!!

    I never hugged a tree in my life….but I do realize common sense!

    Thanks so much for your comments! Glad I don’t live in a communist country that judges people before they are prosecuted…don’t you!!

    I simply posted an excerpt from a news article about the lawsuit and reaffirmed what most know about me who frequent this site. I am a great conservationist but I don’t feel the need to explain to you or anybody else why I am. Spend time here and read what I write and you’ll see for yourself.

    The difference in me and others is that I choose to conserve from a position of choice and freedom and not having environmentalist stealing my land and my rights in order that they fulfill their agendas. I have very little use for any “environmental” groups and organizations for obvious reasons.

    It amazes me and always has that because I oppose governmental interference in anything in my life, you and others automatically label me anti-conservation, anti- environmental, anti-American, anti – du jour.

    You’re right, I don’t know all the facts of this case, neither do you, Merle Haggard or anyone else in the world, nor did I claim to. As I said, I posted a link and an except about the lawsuit and from there I showed my disdain for all environmental groups. Broad and sweeping? Yeah, but their influences and rights-grabbing has brought me and many others to the end of my rope.

    Good luck with your “Train” and even though your website is very generic and non-specific, I hope you chose not to give any money or support to enviro-nazi groups or work toward forcing laws on us who are sick and tired of more laws.

    As always, I hope justice is served.

  14. Bob Wolf on March 30th, 2009 3:57 pm

    Tom, Thank you for responding. Funny, I think we are alot alike in our thoughts.

    I personally feel Env-nazi groups are what keeps us all from getting involved. My title is “environmental Dummy”. I have never been green, but, I realized why. Tired of these groups preaching gloom and doom. This train is unite us as humans. Drop all the titles and just use some simple common sense.
    This is self admitted..I’m older, lazy, too broke to own a Prius, or supply my entire house with cfl lightbulbs. I also don’t like feeling left out of all the global warming knowledge, very overstated and seems com[plicated. Im glad you wrote your comments. This is exactly the bridge we all need to gap. The hell with our personal beliefs. This is simply shutting the tap off when we are shaving, or brushing teeth, unplugging my toaster or microwave in the morning, Simple stuff I have learned to do.

    SIMPLISTIC SOLUTIONS!! On April 5th, 1985, I took a piece of music and 3 weeks worth of phonecalls and requested every radio station in the world to play a song worldwide at the same time. It affected a BILLION and a Half people . They stopped the world for 6 minutes for the first time in history..btw(again, no pay) So a blue collar boy who knows very little about green and most days have too many everyday burdens to live this 24 hours, just asks other humans to not give money, just try to turn the damn water off or change 1 light bulb we will give you on a certian day when the train culminates in DC.

    We will save a billion gallons that day. pretty pure and simple and damn easy to do!! It really is all about showing us all we have many differences in life but this should be done on a daily basis just for our future generations.

    Again, I appreciate your opinion and the “no personal” attack. BTW/ as far as entertainers? Could not care less about who is involved as long as they have a huge fanbase to deliver our message. Afterall it is music that unilaterally speaks 1611 languages. The ego part sucks but most of them are caring and real.

    Thanks again,
    Bob Wolf

    FYI Didn’t someone claim they don’t smoke marijuana in Muskokee and how left wing that is?

    If I’m not mistaken, according to that persons website, it now turns out “self-admittedly been smoking pot for 40 or so years, and OBAMA is now his golden child after Hilary turned down his theme song…but claims to be a Repulican.

    HUH? The truth will unfold very soon!

    Said Hanrahan
    PJ Hartigan © by John O’Brien

    “We’ll all be rooned,” said Hanrahan in accents most forlorn,
    Outside the church, ere Mass began one frosty Sunday morn.
    The congregation stood about coat-collars to the ears,
    And talked of stock, and crops, and drought as it had done for years.
    “It’s looking crook,” said Daniel Croke; “Bedad, it’s cruke, me lad,
    For never since the banks went broke has seasons been so bad.”

    “It’s dry, all right,” said young O’Neil, with which astute remark
    He squatted down upon his heel and chewed a piece of bark.
    And so around the chorus ran, “It’s keepin’ dry, no doubt.”
    “We’ll all be rooned,” said Hanrahan, “Before the year is out.”
    “The crops are done; ye’ll have your work to save one bag of grain;
    From here way out to Back-o’-Bourke they’re singin’ out for rain.

    “They’re singin’ out for rain,” he said, “And all the tanks are dry.”
    The congregation scratched its head, and gazed around the sky.
    “There won’t be grass, in any case, enough to feed an ass;
    There’s not a blade on Casey’s place as I came down to Mass.”
    “If rain don’t come this month,” said Dan, and cleared his throat to speak -
    “We’ll all be rooned,” said Hanrahan, “If rain don’t come this week.”

    A heavy silence seemed to steal on all at this remark;
    And each man squatted on his heel, and chewed a piece of bark.
    “We want an inch of rain, we do, “O’Neil observed at last;
    But Croke “maintained” we wanted two, to put the danger past.
    “If we don’t get three inches, man, or four to break this drought,
    We’ll all be rooned,” said Hanrahan, “Before the year is out.”

    In God’s good time down came the rain; and all the afternoon
    On iron roof and window-pane it drummed a homely tune.
    And through the night it pattered still, and lightsome, gladsome elves
    On dripping spout and window-sill kept talking to themselves.
    It pelted, pelted all day long, a-singing at its work,
    Till every heart took up the song way out to Back-o’-Bourke.

    And every creek a banker ran, and dams filled overtop;
    “We’ll all be rooned,” said Hanrahan, “If this rain doesn’t stop.”
    And stop it did, in God’s good time; and spring came in to fold
    A mantle o’er the hills sublime of green and pink and gold.
    And days went by on dancing feet, with harvest-hopes immense,
    And laughing eyes beheld the wheat nid-nodding o’er the fence.

    And, oh, the smiles on every face, as happy lad and lass
    Through grass knee-deep on Casey’s place went riding down to Mass.
    While round the church in clothes genteel discoursed the men of mark,
    And each man squatted on his heel, and chewed his piece of bark.
    “There’ll be bush-fires for sure, me man, there will, without a doubt;
    We’ll all be rooned,” said Hanrahan, “Before the year is out.”

    I have notice that Mr. Wolf in working on obtaining sponsors for the tour event. With respect to his efforts thus far, who exactly does he think is going to shell out big bucks to sponsor the tour. I believe it will be the enviro-nazis, so to speak, who will end up funding the Green Train Tour. I mean, with all the high profile acts that have been mentioned, how can it not. Next thing you know, Bono and U2 will be headlining the tour. I personally believe that the tour will happen, despite its setbacks.

    Billboards,
    Who WOULDN’T want to sponsor this tour? Are you kidding me? Let’s look at the facts: 1. This is a major concert tour featuring today’s top artists 2. It promotes a good cause! To help the environment and the future status of our natural resources 3. It’s nationwide with designs for a European tour next year 4. It attracts a number of different demographics! In what world is this a bad thing?

Got something to say?
