Phillies Take On The Rays!
October 22, 2008

Tonight is the opening game of the World Series! My hometown boys have done well and I wish them luck…….well, and the Phillies too! For those who don’t know, the Philadelphia Phillies spring train right here in Clearwater, Florida (about 20 miles north of St. Petersburg), so there are a lot of local connections that will prove to make the series interesting.
I had opportunities to get tickets to the first two games but opted out for a variety of reasons.
Good luck to both teams and George, your Phillies are in!

Too bad for the Bosox, thought. Your brother was disappoint
ed enough to tell me he thinks the Rays cheated. I think
he’s kidding and I am too.
Good luck Rays!
And I didn’t even know it was on….I always miss football and baseball because of hunting season….except for the first few innings and then I’m xxxxx’n……
Love it when things work out as desired! May the best team on the day win. I am of course backing the Phightin Phill’s
After last nights pitching duel and the Phill’s win I’m still not sure who is going on to win this series.
What a couple of great ball clubs! The Phillies can’t keep leaving runners on base like they have. Howard’s not hitting and and is racking up the errors.
The Ray’s only just missed, Tonight is going to be better for them. Good pitching is better than good hitting any day.
It seems to be the story of all the teams that have faced the Rays during the playoffs - can’t score runs with runners in scoring position. I have to credit some of that to Tampa’s defense and pitching.
Good game though as it could have ended either way and good pitching, along with great sportsmanship!
I have some “ownership” with the Phillies as they spring train down here. When I managed a health club at the Sheraton on Clearwater Beach, a lot of the Phils past players, coaches, etc. hung out there. That’s where I got to know Dickie Noles (he still owes me a ticket).
And of course every winter there was the Phillies Phantasy Camp in which many of the old players gathered, most staying at the Sheraton.
I look for the Rays to win tonight and head on up to Philadelphia where I hope the Rays win one and bring it on back to St. Pete.
My Phillies are not only in. They just WON the World Series.
I rushed in here this morning to dish out some good natured ribbing only to find Tom’s run off to Maine. On his way through PA he might stop off in Philly (Int. 95 runs right through Philly) and join in the celebrations
