HSUS “Radical Animal-Rights Group”

October 13, 2008

David Martosko of the Center for Consumer Freedom in Washington, D.C. says that news media and policy makers need to stop confusing the Humane Society of the United States as your local humane society or an animal welfare organization. He calls it a radical animal rights group.

Rather than causing spectacles with naked interns, HSUS uses its excessive funding (mostly from Americans who mistakenly believe they’re supporting local pet shelters) to drive a radical animal rights agenda. It’s anti-meat, anti-hunting, and even anti-medical research. And it’s not affiliated with any pet shelters anywhere in the United States.

Sometimes a “humane society” isn’t really a “humane society.” And sometimes animal “welfare” advocates are really animal “rights” zealots in sheep’s clothing.

    HUSUS Agenda for 2008:

Objectives for Fiscal Year Beginning 01/01/2008

    1. Building a humane society by focusing on several major campaigns - combating animal cruelty and fighting; exposing the cruelty in factory farming; combating wildlife abuse, such as canned shoots, bear baiting, pheasant stocking, and similar inhumane practices; ending the killing of animals for their fur; and engaging in campaigns to end puppy mills and the use of chimpanzees in research.

    2. Providing care for animals in need, including victims of disasters and cruelty. Through our affiliate The Fund for Animals, we also operate an extensive system of animal sanctuaries. We also provide veterinary services in impoverished areas in the U.S. and abroad.

    3. Celebrating animals by strenghtening the human-animal bond.

I gotta say there doing pretty good.
    No Polar Bear Skins,

Have seen or read Negative reports about Bear Baiting in several States,

The Amish country here in PA. has big puppy mills. Allot have been shut down and generally nothing is heard except bad press about this.

I heard Cheeta lives in Clear Springs Fla.

    HSUS’s actual agenda for 2008:

    (1) Move people toward vegetarianism
    (2) Outlaw hunting wherever possible
    (3) Fool people into giving millions of dollars
    (4) Pass through less than 5 percent to animal shelters
    (5) Outlaw the circus, the rodeo, and marine-animal theme parks
    (6) Pretend to rescue pets in the wake of hurricanes and floods

A tip and a tip of the hat to Sam. Sam, those 6 points you mentioned are important to use in educating the public. Please always remember to add HSUS primary stated agenda when you discuss their illicit through illegal tactics — HSUS IS OUT TO WIPE ALL DOMESTIC PET AND FARM ANIMALS PERMANENTLY OFF THE FACE OF EARTH, and, to control much of the wildlife population.

Got something to say?
