McCain And Palin - On Our Side
Posted by Tom Remington on October 9, 2008
What is unfortunate about this present campaign for the United States presidency is that the major focus has been on the state of our faltering economy and the war on terror. Lost in the debate has been issues like multiple-use access to public lands, hunting, fishing, the Endangered Species Act and nary a word has been uttered about the Second Amendment.
John McCain and Sarah Palin are on our side when it comes to understanding the American lifestyle and heritage of outdoor sports and recreation. America voices its pride in being a tolerant and diverse society but in this campaign an ugly head has risen in the mix. We have become witness to the intolerance of those seemingly different, quick to cast judgment on Americans with a different lifestyle. Barack Obama has labeled many of these people as being bitter Americans, clinging to guns and religion.
Much of the difference between the team of John McCain and Sarah Palin and Barack Obama and Joe Biden, is saying what you mean and meaning what you say. McCain and Palin have a track record of supporting gun rights, public land access, hunting and fishing. In this campaign, anyone can easily listen to what they say, then do a little research to find out they mean what they say and it is the truth.
During this election cycle, John McCain has made public his exact positions on gun issues. Here’s what is written on the McCain/Palin website.
John McCain believes that the right of law abiding citizens to keep and bear arms is a fundamental, individual Constitutional right that we have a sacred duty to protect. We have a responsibility to ensure that criminals who violate the law are prosecuted to the fullest, rather than restricting the rights of law abiding citizens. Gun control is a proven failure in fighting crime. Law abiding citizens should not be asked to give up their rights because of criminals - criminals who ignore gun control laws anyway.
Obama pretends to offer the same argument but the real difference is one is telling the truth, the other is not.
John McCain has openly admitted that he is not much of a hunter but does enjoy “drowning a worm” as they say. McCain is understanding of the importance of the hunting and fishing heritage. He knows of the economic impact this brings to our economy but just as importantly he relates to and respects the American heritage of our outdoor pursuits. Once again, if you have doubts, check the records.
Sarah Palin, for most of us needs little in the way of introduction to her outdoor heritage and being governor of “The Last Frontier” who better to have a complete grip on the challenges of wildlife management and the knowledge of conservation. She’s a lifetime member of the NRA and has without hesitation expressed to all of America her support for the individual’s right to keep and bear arms.
Let’s face it! We can never find the perfect candidates but when it comes to gun rights, hunting and fishing heritage and the protection of our outdoor adventures, in this election we cannot find two people more suited.

I don’t need McCain to prove that Obama is against guns because I proved it to myself by reading Obama’s voting record as an Illinois State Legislator NO against guns and gun owners 100% of all votes. And I read Obama’s vote record at the U.S. Senate S. 397 vote 219, july 29, 2005. U.S. Senate S. 397 vote 217. U.S. Senate vote 245. 100% against guns/owners/manufaturers/sellers/ period. OBAMA IS AGAIANST GUNS 100%. All administrations over the last forty years are to blame for the crashes we are seeing. ALL. Dont tell me Clintons NAFTA AND GATT helped America either. If you have not seen the numbers from those “Executive Orders” then get lost. Obama’s father working for British SIS destroyed DEMOCRACY in Kenya. WHY. because thats what COMMUNISTS do. Along with killing people for voting their conscience. OBAMA is POISEN.

Most reasonable people against “assault guns”? I think not! Do you have any idea of why the 2nd Amendment exists? Or why the founding fathers wrote it in the first place? Have you ever bothered to read the last SCOTUS opinion? Or are you even aware that there was a ruling on the 2nd Amendment recently? Until you have some idea what you are talking about, pleeease…..

Assault Weapon: the false description of a semi-automatic rifle or pistol as has been in use since the 1890s. What these Liberal know nothings fail to realize is that any object that may be used to assault anyone or anything is an assault weapon, Bat, chair, beer bottle, rock, knife, foot, fists, two x four, chain, vehicle, axe, hatchet, machete, A lying marxist commy named Obama, SWAT TEAM looking for dope, a Columbian gang wanting to hide their dope, A flintlock rifle from the Revolutionary war. NOW GET THE FU%$^@ OUTTA OUR FACE. Thats assault too, guess what dumb dumbs NO SECOND AMENDMENT=NO FIRST AMENDMENT, PS, A BOOT FROM A JACKBOOTED GOVERNMENT THUG standing on yer NECK is ASSAULT to.

Hey Tom, take notice how incensed some or (One) of your more liberal minded contributors became after being confronted by the Christianity of the majority of us more conservative bloggers? The Devil hates sin we have to keep praying.
I pray the gathering storm clouds dissipate without causing more harm in the world but just in case!
I will not part with my AK or SKS! They are clean oiled and locked in my gun safe. Along with the rest of my long arm and shot gun Arsenal. Ammo locked in a trunk, (NOT TOO FAR AWAY!)

The Devil hates sin.was a typo on my part.
You know He just Loves sin and will do all in his power to throw up stumbling blocks to wear down the God Fearing Man. Just keep the faith and the rewards will be in heaven.
Like Jes said I’m just passing through this life. I need to learn more observation skills. But again Jesus says! and I’m commanded to evangelize.
How much power does the Vice President Have?? I’m old school and thought this was a dead end position!
In this new age the VP seems to be a behind the scenes player?
If the Dems prevail in the election, and McCain completes his term. What power will Sarah have to influence policy?
Are the Dems realizing they have an uphill battle to the White House. Brought Mrs. Palin on board to get the GUN VOTE.
There had to be fore knowledge on both parties of the futility of convincing us that anything substantial is going to change, And we will continue this slippery slide to doom.
I’m as disgusted as many others. The writing on the wall tells me I need my guns, So I’m voting that way. NO Other Reason.
It looks official. The NRA is behind McCain Palin

In response to the question I hear recently about giving americans cash from the banks in the amount of several million to strengthen the econonomy, instead of the bankers, I have a better idea, each house hold should emmediately be given the most modern newest assault tank with full weaponry and munitions available. We paid for them things and I want one maybe two. That will strengthen our economy and borders, oh and it will get these political hacks to recognize us as the boss and not the Pope in Rome. Nuff said.

Then read this:
LICATA: Let’s talk about guns for a minute. Do you think the Second Amendment confers an individual right? SENATOR MCCAIN: Absolutely. Absolutely. And I have a 24-year record of fighting for those.
LICATA: Would you support legislation aimed at banning so-called “assault rifles”?
SENATOR MCCAIN: No.
LICATA: How about high-capacity magazines?
SENATOR MCCAIN: No. Because we quickly get into an academic discussion–what’s high-capacity? What’s a banana clip?

Which is the real McCain? Lets look at at the past:
Ban cheap guns; require safety locks; for gun show checks
McCain favors outlawing cheaply made handguns called Saturday night specials, and favors mandating safety locks on certain guns. He said he is intrigued by new technology that electronically identifies a person handling a gun, allowing only the owner to fire it. McCain rallied Senate Republicans behind a Democratic measure requiring background checks at gun shows.

Supports ban on certain assault weapons
McCain said he was open to voting for an assault weapon ban, depending on the details.

Voters Beware: The Radical Rules of Saul Alinsky and Leftist Democrats
If you want to understand the tactics of the left, especially the Clintons, Obama and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) , you need to learn about Saul Alinsky.
Pay attention for your freedom and liberty may be at peril.
Radicals of the Alinsky elk play for keeps and use fair and foul means to accomplish their ends–political power. They are not nice people and should be treated accordingly.
“Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology, and history (and who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins — or which is which), the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom — Lucifer.” Saul Alinski
I have no intentions to play NICE!

I’m learning as we all are, I’m not planing on rolling over to this Power Grab of our freedoms. I am going to learn and apply adapt and overcome! Please Google Saul Alinski. He’s just another radical to add to the long list endorsed by the DNC. The following is just some of the teaching of this despot!
RULE 11: “The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.” Never let the enemy score points because you’re caught without a solution to the problem. (Old saw: If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem. Activist organizations have an agenda, and their strategy is to hold a place at the table, to be given a forum to wield their power. So, they have to have a compromise solution.)
RULE 12: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions. (This is cruel, but very effective. Direct, personalized criticism and ridicule works.)

Did some research on your HOME TOWN flunkies! Let’s just say your point is pathetic.
At a Tuesday afternoon news conference the U.S. District Attorney in Denver said the men were all “meth heads” and threats made towards Senator Obama were not viable. He said one of the men made racist remarks and said they thought Obama was staying in his same hotel, however, they had no way of carrying out any threats.
Under the law, the attorney explained, you can not prosecute a threat that has no way of being carried out.

Isnt’ this what the U.S. is trying to fight against — the combination of CHURCH AND STATE???
Palin needs to go back and read about our Founding Fathers and their strong beliefs on separation of church and state. You don’t have to “sanitize” one from the other, but you can’t use state funds to evangelize, which seems to be Palin’s main focus.
Isn’t that what all the right wingers are worried about? Muslim fundamentalism?
Oh, sorry, Christian fundamentalism in the government is OK, right?
Let’s stop the B.S. and hypocrisy!
Conservatism is about fiscal responsiblity, not “tinkering with social issues” as Rush Limbaugh constantly accuses the “left” of —

I’ve been reading the Constitution, and everywhere I look I can see the influences of European enlightenment philosophy, but I can’t seem to find anything influenced by Christianity.
The only things I’ve found that even come close to relating to Christianity all pretty much go against the Bible. (The 1st, 8th, and 13th amendments, for example.) I can’t seem to find the parts that agree with the Bible.
Could somebody tell me which parts of the Constitution were inspired by the Bible or Christianity?
Please cite a specific article and section number, or amendment number so that I’ll know where to look. Thanks.
Freedom and individual responsibility are values that were around long before Christianity and can be found in non-Christian societies. The fact that Christianity shares those values does not make them Christian values anymore than it makes them Buddhist values. or Muslim Values.
I just happen to subscribe to the Christian version.
October 11th, 2008 at 6:27 pm
OK lets put it this way; Bea Says; (I’m just supposing go with me on this) Why should a non-Christian be forced to live by Christian ideals in a supposedly free country?
Just because you aren’t a Christian doesn’t mean you can’t be a nice, productive, intelligent, law abiding, tax paying, courteous, pleasant, friendly, educated, loving, family oriented, well adjusted member of a free society. So why do some Christians keep insisting on trying to insert their agenda into the laws of our free country?
Then I would have to answer: They shouldn’t.
And those few who have read their Bible as opposed to having somebody else “explain” it to them do not make such sinful demands.
As to the laws of a country, pretty much always the will of the majority will shape the law unless the will of a dictator does.
We are just trying to save you from the will of a Marxist
October 11th, 2008 at 6:35 pm
You gatta hold up on the founding fathers argument also:
President John Adams, a signer of the Bill of Rights — “The moment the idea is admitted into society that property is not as sacred as the laws of God and that there is no force of law in public justice to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence. If ‘thou shall not covet’ and ‘thou shall not steal’ are not commandments of heaven, they must be made inviolable precepts in every society before it can be civilized or made free.”

From what I can gather the Founding Fathers wanted to keep the church out of Government to Protect their fledgling new democracy. Just ask Greg he’ll tell you all about it. But we have long lost that battle. I’m of the belief that we have to fall back to the original (personal) beliefs of the founding fathers to discern what intentions they had in their vision of this great society!

I’ve been reading up on Timothy McVeigh lately. Seems his prison psychiatrist thought he was a “decent guy basically with a lot of rage piled up.”
He was obviously smart, but wandered from job to job, and was rejected by women (an outcast).
He was in the Gulf War and pissed off about it because he felt it was hypocritical because if the U.S. can stockpile and use nuclear weapons, then why can’t other countries?
It just seems that there are a lot of otherwise intelligent people who are loud voices for the NRA but who have good ideas regarding the power of the federal government but they just get pissed off and don’t accomplish anything (except destruction which makes them look bad and makes their views less credible).
The way I see it, the right wing holier than thou, “moral” evangelists are hijacking the true conservative party, turning off moderate voters. Wanna preach? Go become a priest or minister. Government’s job is to 1) provide for the common defense and 2) be responsible stewards of tax money.
PS: And yes, I subscribe to Christianity.

Cultural liberalism is a liberal view of society that stresses the freedom of individuals from cultural norms. Some cultural liberals believe that society should not impose any specific code of behaviour, and they see themselves as defending the rights of non-conformists to express their own identity however they see fit.
The culture wars in modern American politics are usually drawn between cultural liberals and cultural conservatives. Cultural liberals argue that all religion(s) and forms of worship (or lack thereof) should be tolerated; they are strongly opposed to censorship or any kind of oversight of spoken or written material (except, in some cases, hate speech); they believe that the structure of one’s family and the nature of marriage should be left up to individual decision, and they argue that no lifestyle is inherently better than any other. American cultural conservatives usually argue that the government should support Christianity and the traditional family, and oppose pornography.
Cultural liberalism is an element of social liberalism in number of countries. Social liberalism deals broadly with other issues such as health care, economy, etc.

Here is a better view. I totally disagree with you! And I will forever. And the numbers are on this side of the issue. Especially in this blog site.
Tradition is a much sounder foundation than ‘metaphysical abstractions.’
Tradition draws on the wisdom of many generations and the tests of time, while “reason” may be a mask for the preferences of one man, and at best represents only the untested wisdom of one generation.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservatism
Any existing value or institution has undergone the correcting influence of past experience and ought to be respected.
Also, man is unable to understand the many ways in which inherited behaviors influence their thinking, so trying to judge society objectively is futile.

Greg, I don’t buy it….at least not all of it! I see life as an individual responsibility, not as being puppets to a world wide conspiracy…but….maybe you are right, I have no way of finding out even if I wanted to, and I don’t want to!
All I know is there are vast forces out in the world that I don’t need to be a part of….Like Christ, who’s truth I found to be the only REAL truth, I have no need to involve myself in the web of deciet that the world spins. If I can keep a handle on my own part, and maybe have a miniscule part in helping others, then I feel I’ve done my part! I leave the rest in God’s hands!
I’m interested in your posts though, and consider anything I learn to be useful in substiating the truth as far as convincing anyone. I don’t know how you handle so much background without getting tied up in fits about it though…But each and every one of us has some particular talent to use….mine is much simplier! And I try to keep it that way! Guess you know the benefits of that as well, or you wouldn’t be packing up and heading out in God’s simple beautiful wilderness….
But, as the Good Book says, you can’t pull up the tares without tearing loose the wheat…so sometimes we have to learn to co-exist with people who don’t know any better! And forgive them because we aren’t perfect, either! The net will get sorted out when the catch is made…and that goes on as God intends it to..(if you catch my drift) Someday my friends, it will add up and be made clear…until that day…via con Dios!

Are you smarter than a fifth grader? How about it, You think we could and should raise the bar just a bit higher? I’m afraid that’s not going to happen.
My daughter quit teaching 5th graders the beginning of this year. Her reasons ran from the overly enlightened “dead wood” in the school administration protected in there positions by the union dictating guidelines that forced her to teach only what was on (the test.) To parents who do not care and use the school as a sitting service. Also parents who think that because they have money some how little Mary or Jimmy are sooo much smarter than the other kids and when informed otherwise run to the deadwood demanding the teachers be reprimanded.
Sure the pay was great but her Masters Degree was worth the pay she worked hard for it. I warned her though, sometimes the real world is not taught in school especially at our pay grade!

It will all be sorted out on the threshing floor.
October 12th, 2008 at 10:27 am
Hope she doesn’t think that by quiting, she is going to find someplace where she doesn’t have to put up with the dead wood? Dead wood is everywhere….we are all “dead wood” depending on how you look at us…
Of course, if she starts her own business, she can do what she wants, except what’s limited by the government….(see what I mean?) Learn how to deal with it…then move on! Life is a learning experience, use it!
Life is filled with roadblocks….learn to avoid them…find the “back ways”…don’t try to buck ‘em, just work your way around them…

You can’t buy what you haven’t seen. Some find faith the way you did Jes, others needed more, me. You prove to the non-believers there’s a devil, via 6000 years of irrefutable conspiratorial historical fact, and show those conspirators are and have been attempting to destroy all faith in God beyond their sorry little elite buts and you proved there is a God In Heaven. Ive met a lot of people in person and on line that did want to know this truth, Ive turned athiests, have you. I just try it on a larger scale, it is the same thing that you do, only more advanced. Man can not rule man, instead of voting for some liar prince I pray.

She’s allot smarter than me. She’s just like Bea. My Daughter thinks I’m brain washed too. Just another little thing she picked up along with her degrees.
She no longer communicates with the wife and I. Last I heard she climbed up higher looking for what ever will make her happy. Seems like it’s always just out of reach for her. Moved into the music industry. Has a record label pressing out the older Vinyl records, says the purists think the old analog playback equipment is better than digital. I suppose it’s a Niche Market.

Teachers used to be able to work in and around the system, that stopped about 25 years ago, you tow the line or get out, or get in jail for some trumped up BS.

You have to have the Indwelling of the Holy Spirit or else nothing in the book will make any sense to you. Also, here is the catch. You have to be elected by God to receive the Holy Spirit and few are. Our God is an AWESOME God!

Give ‘em time, George, and they’ll go the way where you steered ‘em straight!
Seems like we were all liberals when we were young….until we learned better!

I have a friend at the Berean Bible Church who would like to teach 3-4th grade. Can’t find a permanent position in any of the local municipalities. Has worked as a substitute at some but cant land the permanent position.
I asked her if she professed her faith at any of the job interviews. She said yes?

Serve the terrorist to the southern boys…..we’ll tell ‘em they taste like chicken! Fried!
October 12th, 2008 at 11:51 am
She said yes. My question (unvoiced) was. Does this yes answer provided deem you unemployable because of your Christian views?
She told me she does not interview well. (I’m thinking that she wanted to say is I’m not a good liar)
This is in the Philadelphia suburban school systems. Verrry to use the phrase Politicaly Liberal community.

When we’re whimpin and whining, just remember what the early days after Christ was crucified were like….and the muslin countries have similar penalties, today!

Bullhockey - You’re ignorant! In your haste to get on here and show the world your own ignorance of matters, you took no time to educated yourself about this website. If you had, and looked around just a little bit, you would have found tons of pages of FACTS supporting claims that Obama is a liar with his claims of Second Amendment support.
Before making rash judgments, and then turning around yourself and providing nothing but rhetoric, think.
As I said on a previous post you made, get lost. You are here to cause trouble, pointing fingers and name calling with nothing to offer except your own blind-eyed infatuation with a Marxist wannabe dictator.
Do your homework or stay home.

The contention that Barack is lying about supporting gun ownership, while McCain is telling the truth is not only not supported by any facts (the blogger provides ZERO to back this up), but it shows how little you really know about Barack.
Your right I don’t know anything about this Made Up Man. I’d like to know. But the Media will not answer the questions I have attesting to this man’s past, and his (Time In Office) record is almost a complete blank.
It’s hard enough when our Republican nominee, John McCain, has to run against a smooth talker who gets by with spouting off quips about “hope” and “change” and never has to get specific about his programs for the country. But, when that candidate, Barack Obama, is given a free pass by the media, it’s as if McCain were running against two opponents at once, the media have become a blatant advocacy group and, in the process, have thrown their integrity and professionalism in the garbage.
A perfect example of this bias comes with the relentless negative coverage of Gov. Sarah Palin. Portrayed as a bumpkin from the sticks, the media continue to make her a story even when she’s not making news. On the other hand, Sen. Joe Biden issues gaffe after gaffe, and it goes unreported. Biden basically admitted that Obama’s lack of foreign policy experience was going to be trouble for the United States. That Barack Obama would face a ‘generated crisis’ early on if he is elected.”
He has to clearly state where he stands on the issues, and if the media won’t press Obama, then McCain must also let America know where Obama stands. It’s not being “negative.” It is simply doing the job the media should be doing.

Obama voted for a bill that would ban nearly every hunting rifle, shotgun and target rifle owned by Illinois citizens. That same bill would authorize the state police to raid homes of gun owners to forcibly confiscate banned guns. Obama supported a bill that would shut down law-abiding firearm manufacturers including Springfield Armory, Armalite, Rock River Arms and Les Baer. Obama also voted for a bill that would prohibit law-abiding citizens from purchasing more than one gun per month.
Without a doubt, Barack Obama has proven himself to be an enemy of the law abiding firearm owner. At the same time, Obama has proven himself to be a friend to the hardened criminal. While a state senator, Obama voted 4 times against legislation that would allow a homeowner to use a firearm in defense of home and family.
Does Barack Obama still sound to you like a “friend” of the law-abiding gun owner?
And speaking of friends, you can always tell a person by the company they keep. Obama counts among his friends the Rev. Michael Pfleger - a renegade Chicago priest who has openly called for the murder of gun shop owners and pro-gun legislators. Then there is his buddy Richard Daley, the mayor of Chicago who has declared that if it were up to him, nobody would be allowed to own a gun. And let’s not forget Obama’s pal George Soros - the guy who has pumped millions of dollars into the UN’s international effort to disarm law-abiding citizens.
Obama has shown that he is more than willing to use other people’s money to fund his campaign to take your guns away from you. While a board member of the leftist Joyce Foundation, Barack Obama wrote checks for tens of millions of dollars to extremist gun control organizations such as the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence and the Violence Policy Center.
Does Barack Obama still sound to you like a “friend” of the law-abiding gun owner?
By now, I’m sure that many of you have received mailings from an organization called “American Hunters and Shooters Association(AHSA)” talking about what a swell fellow Obama is and how he honors the 2nd Amendment and how you will never have to worry about Obama coming to take your guns. Let me make it perfectly clear - everything the AHSA says about Obama is pure hogwash. The AHSA is headed by a group of left-wing elitists who subscribe to the British view of hunting and shooting. That is, a state of affairs where hunting and shooting are reserved for the wealthy upper-crust who can afford guided hunts on exclusive private reserves. The AHSA is not your friend, never will be.
In closing, I’d like to remind you that I’m a guy who has actually gone nose to nose with Obama on gun rights issues. The Obama I know cannot even begin to identify with this nation’s outdoor traditions. The Obama I know sees you, the law abiding gun owner, as nothing but a low-class lummox who is easily swayed by the flash of a smile and a ration of rosy rhetoric. The Obama I know is a stony-faced liar who has honed his skill at getting what he wants - so long as people are willing to give it to him.
That’s the Barack Obama I know.
There is always two sides to a coin unless of course your the Media’s elect. Then one side is all you get.
