“Disappointed!”

With permission, below I am publishing an email I received from a reader here at Black Bear Blog.
~~~~~~~~~~~
In light of today’s yes vote on the ‘Rescue’ package. I was compelled to E-Mail our state Rep. the Honorable Jim Gerlach.
Sir, I am most disappointed in your YES vote on the Bail Out!
Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis warned, ‘The greatest dangers to liberty lurk in the insidious encroachment by men of zeal, well meaning but without understanding.’
The freedom of individuals from compulsion or coercion never was, and is not now, the normal state of human affairs. The normal state for the ordinary person is tyranny, arbitrary control and abuse mainly by their own government.
While imperfect in its execution, the founders of our nation sought to make an exception to this ugly part of mankind’s history.
Unfortunately, at the urging of the American people, we are unwittingly in the process of returning to mankind’s normal state of affairs.
Americans demand that Congress spend trillions of dollars on farm subsidies, business bailouts, education subsidies, Social Security, Medicare and prescription drugs and other elements of a welfare state.
The problem is that Congress produces nothing. Whatever Congress wishes to give, it has to first take other people’s money. Thus, at the root of the welfare state is the immorality of intimidation, threats and coercion backed up with the threat of violence by the agents of the U.S. Congress.
In order for Congress to do what some Americans deem as good, it must first do evil. It must do that which if done privately would mean a jail sentence; namely, take the property of one American to give to another.
If we Americans didn’t give Washington such enormous control over our lives, I doubt whether there would be 10 percent of the money currently spent on lobbying and campaign contributions. This enormous control that Congress has over our lives also goes a long way toward explaining much of the government corruption that we see in Washington.
There is no question that if one were to ask whether we Americans are moving towards more liberty or more government control over our lives, the answer would unambiguously be the latter - more government control over our lives.
We might have reached a point where the trend is irreversible and that is a true tragedy for if liberty is lost in America, it will be lost for all times and all places.
I wondered how we had gotten to this time and place, in which television personalities would express open disdain for America’s constitutional system. The exchange between Caruso-Cabrera and her colleagues demonstrated that those who posture as ‘pro-business’ can really be socialists at heart.
On CNBC, which I thought was pro-business, news analysts frequently complained that the ‘ideology’ of the House Republicans had gotten in the way of the planned takeover of the financial sector. That ‘ideology’ is free enterprise capitalism.
Over at the ‘conservative’ Fox News Channel, the TV personalities keep referring to this plan as a ‘rescue,’ in order to play down the magnitude of the socialist transformation of the U.S. economy. The term ‘rescue’ sounds so much better than ‘bailout’ or ‘Marxism’ or ’socialism.’
Meanwhile―and this is no joke―Wachovia is still running TV ads on Fox News saying that people who invest in the company get showered with money from the sky as they walk down the street. This is the same company that just sold its failing banking operations.
If the ‘bailout’ passes―and it seems as if the plan is to keep voting until Congress gets it ‘right’―then the Treasury Department and the Federal Reserve will take control of U.S. credit markets. The next phase of the plan is global.
‘If he were to rise from the dead today, Marx might be delighted to discover that most economists and financial commentators, including many who claim to favor the free market, agree with him.
The Socialist International, meanwhile, is preparing for a high-level meeting in Mexico on November 17-18, ‘to discuss an agenda with the urgent world financial situation at its center, following U.S. elections.’
Congressional passage of the ‘bailout’ bill, strongly supported by Obama and Senator John McCain, sets the stage for an Obama White House win on November 4 and even further expansion of the federal government into the economy and other sectors. In short, socialism is coming, and American-style capitalism is on the way out. But it’s socialism at home and abroad.
Need I mention that you NO LONGER HAVE MY VOTE! George Law
From what I’ve heard there are 300 million americans. Write a check to each american for 1 million dollars no less and no more, that ought to kick start the economy. Oh yea, all the big time wall street ceos’ and the guys that started this mess get nothing except maybe a job pumping out the crappers on different job sites around the country.
October 5th, 2008 at 3:09 am
Good Idea, I could use a cool million, but I don’t trust those Rothschilds, Rockefellers, Warburgs, Morgans, and any other political hacks, or Bankster CEO types with my crapper either, just put them in the crapper, problem solved.
This surprises me! I’ll have to see if I can watch it. Just to see if any of it actually sticks!!
Tonight (Sunday Oct 5th) at 9:00 est there will be a special on Fox News (cable, direct TV or dish) that will be very interesting and hopefully help you make a more informed decision but you do not want to miss this trust me. This is about all the corruption and anti-American people Obama is tied to. Tell as many friends as you can to watch this too, especially the ones that may be supporting Hussein O.
Do you actually think the Media might cover any of this information? about the “O” :
Asking the right questions can sometimes yield the right answers, and few seems to be questioning the degree to which any of the candidates have socialist leanings, or who are disguised communists through socialist rhetoric.
Because American democracy has fundamental values like equality for everyone, it may be that democracy itself may be socialistic but limit itself to promising more. Capitalism is not socialism only because it is rooted in economics, not political theology.
That America may have socialist political philosophy and capitalism as its economic philosophy is a distinct probability that has never been taught well, but which seems to reveal itself in our progressive attitudes and actions.
Playing to that socialist sentiment of “all-included” mentality, it’s possible that America has allowed the premise of economic socialism (a.k.a., Communism) to creep into its national identity through programs like affirmative action and through the economic focus of civil rights, etc. that sees the welfare state as the economic source of serenity - perhaps unfairly.
Where socialist economic has been indulged, can communism be far behind?
Identifying candidates by separating their political philosophy from their economic philosophy might be the necessary agenda to arrive at what Americans really think, and how to choose its electorate, as well as its Presidents, to find out who’s who in America.
I’m not socialist I’m anti-socialist..Not communist either I don’t buy into the “It’s a Village” Bunkum…. I like Individualism a lot….I’m an Observer….I do appreciate the real unperverted Bible…..Common Law, But established Religculous is not my deal either, that stuff just slams peoples minds closed….CONgress is very fun to read, you can pick apart most theories with CONgressional Records, If you read the Ten Planks of Communism, Then read the Founders Bill Of Rights then you recognize right off which one you have lived your life under….We been Praticing Communism since about 1913, then we really got commy about 1933, with that fake 16th amendment, which was never made law….we signed that contract which meant we would donate for ever….voluntary all the way of course…Those IRS thugs stealing from those who got behind on their donations was just imagination…..Hell, now we is donating to China via sell out…oooops I mean bail out…..gosh the stock market is still collapsing, the paper with ink on it “dollar” is still worth less every minute……Sorry Georgie, we went past socialistic tendencies a long time ago, Commy FDR/Truman they did us…..and their bankster pals.
October 5th, 2008 at 3:12 pm
It is impossible to have a Republic (like the U.S.) without some amount of socialism. We are not a pure democracy; it doesn’t exist.
And Caribou Barbie (Palin), wants to advocate for “more health care for children with disabilities.”
OK, noble cause perhaps, but — my friend — as John McCain is fond of saying– that is “socialism — using tax money to support social causes.
So socialism is OK with McCain -Palin as long as it supports their view of WHAT should be socialized, right?
Sorry Bea I’ll pray for you!
Liberals often seemed perplexed by the success of conservatives in talk radio and the abject failure of liberal talk radio (see Air America, Jim Hightower, Ed Schultz, etc.), another example of how their belief in government regulation blinds them to the way the free market operates.
It’s the law of supply and demand.
Liberals have long had multiple media outlets to turn to: government-supported PBS and NPR, the broadcast networks, the newsweeklies, the Times and the Post, and the rest of the legacy media.
Conservative talk radio has been successful, i.e. profitable–and liberal talk radio has not–because of the most basic of reasons: it supplied a market demand that was otherwise unmet. Listeners turn to conservative talk shows to meet that need. Listeners mean ratings. Ratings mean advertising revenues.
The success of Rush and other conservative talk radio hosts, and the failure of liberals to achieve similar success, is the underlying motivation behind Democrats’ efforts to re-impose the Fairness Doctrine. Among those who have spoken up for the position are Senators John Kerry and Dick Durbin and Representatives John Dingell, Dennis Kucinich, and Louise Slaughter.
According to Accuracy In Media Editor Cliff Kincaid, with Democrats in control of both the White House and Congress, a Democratic-appointed F.C.C. could easily re-impose the Fairness Doctrine. “This may be what is planned,” he told the Cybercast News Service .
Their stated goal: to require every radio station that airs Rush, or any other conservative host, to air an equal, and similarly day-parted, amount of time for a liberal to espouse their views
Forced to provide equal time to liberal hosts — an enterprise that has proved financially inviable time after time — broadcasters would soon have to increase the advertising rates for conservative programs to compensate for the liberal shows drain in ratings and advertising or to pull the plug on both, silencing some of the most prominent and influential voices on the right.
But then, maybe that’s what the Democrats supporting the Fairness Doctrine are really after.
George,
Your post proves several things:
1. You either have ADD or are utterly unable to believe that someone who can criticize Republicans is not a registered Democrat or normally votes Democrat. I have no idea why you are talking about Conservative Radio; none of my posts discussed radio.
2. You don’t actually listen to what anyone says or writes; you just go into “automatic pilot” ranting your same old script every time someone says something that doesn’t go lock step with you.
3. I used to watch Rush Limbaugh on TV when he was on TV. I used to listen to his radio show. I thought, hey, here is someone with a different opinion.
4. After a while, it became obvious that all Rush was doing was exactly what the “left” was doing — trying to shove their opinions down OUR THROATS.
5. You should get your head out of you as– for once and actually try to listen to people.
6. I don’t agree with the “fairness doctrine,” got it?
7. Now go run along and play with kids your own age!
October 5th, 2008 at 6:07 pm
George,
Instead of ranting, why don’t you answer this?
So socialism is OK with McCain -Palin as long as it supports their view of WHAT should be socialized, right?
Palin does not believe in abortion in the EXTREME cases of rape or incest.
Her and her buddies like to point to religious extremism and dangerous — I would call that religious extremism. If her own daughter was raped, she would force her to carry the baby to term?
If not, that means she is actually “pro-choice.”
If she doesn’t want to force her opinion on others.
If it were up to her and she was on the Supreme Court, you can bet she would try to make abortions illegal under any circumstances.
That — my friend — is religious fanaticism — something her and McCain claim to fight against so strongly.
By the way Greggie I have been praying for you for weeks!
Why not research (honestly) on the subject of Jesus our savior? Try to be part of the solution and help save our country.
God’s grace through faith in Jesus Christ. If you open you heart to God’s free gift repent your sins accept the Holy Spirit and pray for forgiveness. God will hear you and heal you!
By his grace he could heal this country as well. If we all just cried out in prayer. If we prayed for our elected officials and our leaders. Prayed for an awakening in their hearts. God promises that if we do these things he will save us:
2 Chronicles 7:14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
As far as having a closed mind. Since my rebirth in Christ I have never felt more alive! God’s Holy Word the Bible is open to me and it’s revelation is water for a parched spirit and truly the breath of eternal life. I could never grow tired or searching Gods word for the true direction of my life. All praise and Glory go to God for everything. Not man and his man made false opinions of himself and his surrounds! These things can never lead to lasting peace or happiness.
Proverbs 16:18-19 Pride goes before destruction
a haughty spirit before a fall.
Better to be lowly in spirit and among
the oppresed
than to share plunder with the proud.
We should all pray for the salvation of our country.
October 5th, 2008 at 6:29 pm
And Bea I’ll still pray for you too
October 5th, 2008 at 6:32 pm
I rest my case George. You are incapable of intelligent discussion, only partisanship. You see the world through a lens of bad and good, Dems and Repubs.
Democrats - “Bad!Bad!”
Republicans — “Good!Good!”
Time to wake up and smell the roses.
October 5th, 2008 at 6:41 pm
Bea. I was just saying how you might sound like a defunct liberal talk show host to some who subscribe to this post and read your base theory and rebuttals. And how more conservative minded readers feel tired if footing the bill for such opinions
October 5th, 2008 at 6:49 pm
You also expose yourself. This is not an acceptable thought process for you?
1 Peter 4:
Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because he who has suffered in his body is done with sin. As a result, he does not live the rest of his earthly life for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God. For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do-living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry.
They think it strange that you do not plunge with them into the same flood of dissipation, and they heap abuse on you.
These words were written over 2 thousand years ago and are still relevant in todays society.
I’ve seen both Bush Presidents kiss the ring on the Popes hand, I’ve seen Bill Clinton Kiss the ring on the Popes hand, I’ve seen John McCain kiss the Popes hand, And I have seen Joe Biden kiss that hand, Obama would to, that tells me all I need to know about PARTISANSHIP. It’s bullshit. Pray for them George they need it far more than I do, I got myself covered in the Praying department and it ain’t to no man pretending to be a god.
October 5th, 2008 at 7:12 pm
He’s just a man I wouldn’t kiss his ring for nothing. There is only one living GOD that’s Jesus. He is the light the truth and the way. no man gets to the father except through him.
Hope you can find it in your heart to sign up!
Do you think you have one? Do you know where it came from if you do?
Is the Bible a correct manuscript?
The Smithsonian’s department of Anthropology has received numerous inquiries in recent years regarding the historicity of the Bible in general.
Much of the Bible, in particular the historical books of the old testament, are as accurate historical documents as any that we have from antiquity and are in fact more accurate than many of the Egyptian, Mesopotamian, or Greek histories. These Biblical records can be and are used as are other ancient documents in archeological work. For the most part, historical events described took place and the peoples cited really existed. This is not to say that names of all peoples and places mentioned can be identified today, or that every event as reported in the historical books happened exactly as stated. There are conflicts between present archeological evidence and historical reports that may result from a lack of information on our part or from misunderstandings or mistakes by the ancient writers.
However, in the stories found in the Book of Genesis, Chapter 1-12, such as the flood story, the record is quite different: the time period under consideration is much more ancient. The factual bases of the stories are hidden from our view archaeologically. The stories remain a part of folk traditions and were included in the Bible to illustrate and explain theological ideas such as: Where did humans come
This is lifted from the following link. True much of the Bible is based in faith. How can a mere man understand the creator of the whole universe? Except by FAITH?
The Historical books of the Bible start with Joshua and end at the finish of Ester. The preceding books were the books of law and ended with the death of Moses.
George, you had me going there when you called Greg, Greggie…I know how sometimes it feels like you’re not getting anywhere, but God’s ways are infinite and beyond man’s grasp…except for the basics…like Jesus His Son..and the redemption of His sacrifice…some things we can grasp, but a lot we just have to look and watch and pray for…and prayer, if it’s really communication, is listening as well! In fact, it’s more listening than talking….but pleading our case is only our human frailty, and understandable. And He does listen, and we can change the course of events if we can convince Him….but usually whatever happens is because He lets it happen…and He does know better than us. And we usually deserve what happens.
And our humility is in God’s eyes, our greatest asset!
I had always laughed in the past when people on the political Left referred to Fox News as “Faux News.” But in light of recent events ? opinions can change
Dear Lord, I thank you for this day. I pray for all my brothers and sisters. I believe that God changes people and God changes things. I pray for peace, love, and joy in their homes, that they are out of debt and all their needs are met.
I pray that every eye that reads this knows there is no problem, circumstance,or situation greater than God. Every battle is in Gods hands to fight, I pray that these words be received into the hearts of every eye that sees them and every mouth that confesses them willingly.
This is my prayer dear Lord all your children. In Jesus’ Name AMEN
