    Idaho Wolves Continue Their Slaughter

Posted by Tom Remington on August 21, 2008

Remaining unchecked and unmanaged, the wolves in Idaho continue their slaughter of personal property livestock, according to the latest Wolf Update from the website of the Idaho Department of Fish and Game.

From July 28 to August 15, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Wildlife Services documented 24 confirmed wolf depredations and five probable wolf depredations on livestock. The federal agents confirmed that wolves killed 77 sheep, four adult cows and seven calves and injured another six sheep and determined that another 11 sheep, seven calves and a guard dog were probable wolf depredations. During the reporting period, WS killed 11 wolves and captured and released six wolves, five of which were radio -collared. During the same time frame in 2007, WS documented eight confirmed wolf depredations and one probable wolf depredation.

Last month, Judge Donald Molloy, issued a temporary injunction that immediately placed the gray wolf in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and parts of Utah, Oregon and Washington, back under protection of the Endangered Species Act. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is trying to determine their legal options I have been told.

      This just burns my hide.

This is to say NOTHING about the thousands of elk and deer, that SPORTSMEN have brought back from extinction due to market hunters in the 1800’s. (And from wolf predation in the days before we were prohibited from killing them)
The abundance of deer and elk is ENTIRELY due to the efforts of fish and game departments that have been funded by sportsmen liscenses and taxes on sporting goods…(and sportsman organizations funded by sportsmen and their contributers!
NOW, who is going to replace all the game the wolf is killing? WOLF LOVERS? Look at your history, edgits….

    3. Mike Says:

Umm you can’t really say wolves are ’slaughtering’ animals. Unless you’re prepared to say humans are ’slaughtering’ animals instead of saying humans are ‘eating’ animals.

    4. jes Says:

Right, Mike, and I guess you’d rather have wolves eating all the deer and elk, than eating them yourself! Or you’d much rather have wolves eating all the deer we as sportsmen have brought back from existinction, than seeing men as hunters, eat the fruit of their labors….Is that your point?
So stay in your city home, and stay out of the country, because eventually, you’re going to be on the wolf’s table fare. Because as soon as they finish eating all the deer and elk, they’re going after any man they can bring down…and believe me, they can! As long as you’re outnumbered, and unarmed, you’re going to be fair game!

Just wanted to let everyone know that it is Wolf Awareness Week :) :)

      Jes,

If wolves were eating “all the deer” (or elk) as your post says, there literally wouldn’t be any left deer left and we all know there are areas where there are way too many deer.

So your point doesn’t make sense.

And, besides, wouldn’t the wolves be seriously OVERWEIGHT if they were eating “ALL” the deer?

And this comment of yours really cannot go unexamined:

Jes said: The abundance of deer and elk is ENTIRELY due to the efforts of fish and game departments that have been funded by sportsmen liscenses and taxes on sporting goods…(

No, it’s really due to God. :) Man just isn’t as important in the grand scheme of things as I know you truly want to believe.

    7. jes Says:

You’re getting funnier by the dozen, Bea…Yes, the wolves aren’t overweight, and they aren’t eating ALL the deer. I stand corrected..however I believe you know the point I was making, and that is in areas where the wolf has been “released” and given a short length of time to reproduce, they have indeed overpopulated and are leaving very few deer and elk…Indeed the question remains if they will survive at all, since once a herd reaches a critical low point it is a questionable matter if ANY will survive..
And I assure you that God is often at work in and with man as often as not in this world….we are His creations as well! (Lest we forget, and turn against Him)
