Panic On The School Board! Teachers Can Carry Concealed

Imagine if you will, your wife getting ready for a day of teaching at the local school. Just before heading out the door, she slips her shoulder harness over her head that snugly holds the 9mm Glock. Then on goes the jacket and out the door she goes feeling safe that she might have a chance to defend herself from sickos, terrorists or just bad students…….maybe even an insane principal.
According to Michelle Malkin, she reports that one school district in Texas has made at least partial provisions for trained and approved teachers to carry concealed while in the classroom.
My wife is a teacher in the Florida school system. I won’t reveal anymore than that. Last year for the third year, she was teaching “at risk” kids in grades 5-8 and some kids who just can’t get out of the 8th grade and into high school. They call them 8.5s.
I’ll spare you all the details, and those who have never been in such a situation will not understand, but needless to say, she taught in a difficult situation. Each morning was a chore to get out the door for her because each day she wondered if one of these anger-laden kids would turn on her with no recourse for protection.
Schools are out of control and administrators are out of touch, continuing down the same failed road hoping something will change and make education better. It’s kind of an ostrich effect I believe.
I am a staunch advocate for our Second Amendment rights and I believe that teachers or any American should be able to pass a simple background check and in this case, demonstrate an ability to handle a weapon and be able to carry. I’ll guarantee some of those kids would change their ways.
Of course this will not set well with the panic-stricken people who think guns jump out of holsters and kill innocent people but I have to take my hat off for the folks in the Harrold school district in Texas for having some sense and understanding of the realities facing their community.
Fortunately for my wife, she has been involuntarily transfered to a different school due to enrollment issues but I can assure you, had this not happened, she would not be returning to that school to put her life at risk with no means of self-protection.

Sounds more like rare wisdom in a school board. Perhaps it should be a mandatory condition of employment?
