Enjoying The Deep Snows And Brilliant Sunshine Of Northern Maine

Posted by Tom Remington on March 18, 2008

My very good friend Steve Lane from Maine sent me the following photos after a weekend outing of snowmobiling around the Millinocket area. Steve sends along a warning to would be snowmobilers out for a springtime ride.

Tell your readers to use caution while sledding on the chain of lakes fed by the west branch (Penobscot). They have started releasing water from Rip Dam and the pumping stations are running on Ambajesus and Millinocket lake. There is quite a bit of slush under the surface crust on Millinocket Lake.

A day out on snowmobiles wouldn’t be complete without roasting some hotdogs on an open fire. Photo by Steve Lane.
