Bush Administration’s Statement On D.C. Gun Ban Case “Dumbest Ever”
January 16, 2008
Recall on Saturday I commented on the Bush Administrations brief to the Supreme Court concerning the Appeals Court’s decision to declare Washington, D.C.’s gun ban unconstitutional. That brief, in my opinion, confirmed that this administration is pro gun control and wishes to restrict people of their right to “keep and bear arms” and to maintain power and control over the people in so doing.
Today, Robert VerBruggen in the American Spectator, comments on the Bush Administration’s statements.
With the ruling in mind, this Bush administration gem has to be one of the dumbest statements ever to make it into an official government statement:
“The court’s decision could be read to hold that the Second Amendment categorically precludes any ban on a category of ‘Arms’ that can be traced back to the Founding era. If adopted by this Court, such an analysis could cast doubt on the constitutionality of existing federal legislation prohibiting the possession of certain firearms, including machineguns.”

The detachable-magazine machinegun was effectively invented in 1717 (the “Puckle Gun”).
Darn straight such an analysis could cast doubt on the constitutionality of existing federal legislation prohibiting the possession of certain firearms, including machineguns. I’m hoping 922(o) gets overturned ASAP.
It seems that everybody forgot this is a Constitutional Republic and NOT a democracy. See Dr. Franklin’s comment on what kind of goverment this is.See also Article lV section 4 of the Constitution.
