Your Divorce Is Killing My Deer

I think it’s time to push the notion of global warming somewhere into the background as it appears there is another phenomenon spreading that is as big if not a bigger threat to our environment – D-I-V-O-R-C-E!!! I’m not kidding. Would I kid you? Have you ever known me to pass on bad information?
It’s true. Here’s the deal. Let’s say you have a family of four living under one roof. The parents divorce and the father moves out. Now you have the need for another home. This adds to the demands of using up more land, wood, water, electricity, energy, all those bad things, which in turn are probably cutting into my favorite hunting grounds.
Read more about it here. There was actually a study done recently that proves this theory. Perhaps instead of the Kyoto Protocol we can begin calling it the Las Vegas Protocol. We’ll encourage all countries to sign this agreement and then return to their own countries and pass laws to limit the number of divorces. What does your “relationship footprint” look like?
This should work because I feel quite certain that people will reduce divorces to save the environment but to hell with the kids.

I’ve seen this in a few places. I suppose there’s a grain of truth to it, but if we’re proceeding down that road, then we should all live in communes and pack the maximum number of people in so we’re taking up less space. It’s kind of silly when you examine it logically.
Exactly! I suppose we can always find “ounces” of truth in a lot of things but I wonder whether such a study would be done if people weren’t obsessing over the environment and in particular, global warming.
No commune living for me thank you. Too old for that.
