Presidential Hopefuls Of The Past Insulted Hunters Too
April 7, 2007
Mitt Romney isn’t the only candidate to have not been completely honest and transparent with his hunting past and gun ownership. Do you know who made these comments during his run for the presidency? He made this comment to describe what tactics he uses when he goes deer hunting.
“I go out with my trusty 12-gauge double-barrel, crawl around on my stomach. I track and move and decoy and play games and try to outsmart them. You know, you kind of play the wind. That’s hunting”
And to make sure that we all believe he is a great supporter of our Second Amendment rights.
“When I was a kid I used to hunt woodchuck, predators on the farm. I started with a BB gun, moved up to a .22, then a .30/30, and a shotgun. And I’ve shot birds off and on through my life, some game, rabbits, deer — I’ve been on Massachusetts deer hunts.”
The Massachusetts deer hunts should give you a hint.
Does this descriptive encounter sound at all familiar?
“I once had an incredible encounter with the most enormous buck — I don’t know, 16 points or something. It was just huge. And I failed to pull the trigger at the right moment.”
Not to be ridiculed by the press and booed by the real hunters, this candidate went and employed a “cousin” to verify the “crawling around on the belly” thing.
‘When you see (a deer), you absolutely freeze. Then the game is to see how you can get closer. . . . So you crawl along until you know you have a dead ringer shot.’”
Yes, oh yes! “Oh what a tangled web we weave, when at first we practice to deceive.”
And now, reports are coming out that Mitt Romney never bought a hunting license. He says everywhere he hunted he didn’t need a license.
BIG SIGH!!!
And just in case you haven’t figured out who the candidate was, it was John Kerry. Surprised?
Who’s next?
Tom Remington

I’m sad to say it no longer surprises me when politicians on either side of the aisle exaggerate or obscure the truth in an effort to appear to be something they’re not.
