More Indiana Woes Pertaining to High Fence Preserves

February 16, 2006

Hunting preserves will more than likely be shut down in the spring in Indiana but that isn’t stopping some of the problems with existing businesses. The R&R Elk Ranch Hunting Preserve near St. Joe, was ordered shut down for violating a special exception clause granted the owners when they applied for a permit to open their preserve.

Nearby neighbors have been complaining because errant buckshot is hitting their property and one owner says someone shot and killed a pheasant outside the fenced in preserve area.

Richard and Rebecca Reed will appear before the DeKalb County Board of Zoning Appeals on April 10, 2006.

The exception clause stated that Richard DeKalb was to be the guide on all hunts on his 150 acre preserve. He admitted to using others as guides.

Elk, boar, pheasant and other game were hunted at their preserve.
